Good Morning, God: The Story of Fr. Solanus Casey, Capuchin Friar, a new children's book authored by Gaynell Cronin with Capuchin friar Jack Rathschmidt and illustrated by Capuchin friar Michael Gaffney, is now available at the Solanus Casey Center.
“We wanted children to have a colorful, easy to read book that captures the holiness of Father Solanus,” co-author friar Jack Rathschmidt explains. “Father Solanus' holy life was holy because he listened to others with compassion and kindness. These are lessons that children can understand. We wanted to convey Father Solanus' attention to creation, family, people in need and his attention to God.”
“We can all emulate Father Solanus,” book illustrator friar Michael Gaffney adds. “Father Solanus' devotion to his family…whether it was his Wisconsin family with 15 brothers and sisters or his Capuchin family with brothers from New York to Montana…he was a brother to everyone he met.”
Capuchin friar Jack Rathschmidt concludes, “That's what made Father Solanus so special, so holy. He made everyone he met feel so special.”
