We need to remember Solanus' love of Christ and the Eucharist

Capuchin Friar Fr. Michael Crosby, theologian for Solanus' cause, will present a “Remembering Solanus” series, helping us appreciate Fr. Solanus’ primary love: his love of Christ and the Eucharist. The presentation will take place Noon, Saturday, April 1 at the Solanus Casey Center.

A popular facilitator and author, Fr. Michael was a collaborator for Casey's beatification, working with the Vatican’s representative in the crafting of the official Positio for the Cause of Canonization.  Upon its acceptance in 1995, Pope John Paul II bestowed on Bernard (Solanus) Casey the title of Venerable making him the first male born in the U.S. to be elevated to this position.

Fr. Michael is the author of Solanus Casey, The Official Account of a Virtuous American Life, the biography and recollections of the virtues of Venerable Solanus, excerpted from the official 1300-page canonization document. The book is both a moving spiritual biography and an inside look at the canonization process.

Fr. Michael Crosby was recently named one of the Most Inspirational People of 2016 by Wisconsin’s Catholic Herald. He lives in community with other friars in a downtown Milwaukee parish that serves the urban poor and homeless. His own ministry revolves around his attempt to proclaim the gospel of God's Trinitarian reign and the conversion that is needed to bring about Trinitarian relationships of equality at all levels "on earth as it is in heaven."

He has been a pioneer among Catholics in promoting corporate reform through socially responsible investing. Fr. Michael’s most recent victory occurred last month when his almost 20-year journey to address the issue of climate change with Exxon Mobil resulted with the world's largest publicly traded oil company agreeing to appoint a climate change expert to its board of directors.

The April 1 presentation is free, but seating is limited and reservations are required.

Please RSVP online or by phone 313.579.2100 ext. 149.

The Solanus Center & Fr. Solanus Guild Presents:

"Remembering Fr. Solanus" Series

We welcome you to our seven month period of prayerful “remembering.” The series will culminate July 31, 2017, the 60th anniversary of Father Solanus’ death. At his funeral, nearly 20,000 people came to the little chapel of St. Bonaventure’s not only to pay their respects, but to beg for his now-heavenly intercession. The city of Detroit, where he died and had spent most of his years of ministry, decreed a day of mourning.

On the first Saturday of every month, from December through June, we will present a 2 1/2 hour prayerful “remembering” of our Capuchin Brother Solanus. The sessions will begin at noon in the Center with a simple lunch and conclude by 2:30.
