Despite being overcast and cool - the spirits were high at our recent Blessing of the Solanus Garden and capuchin ministries Family Day and Open House....

The Garden was blest first, as a historical remembrance of the site of the original Capuchin Soup Kitchen. Its herbs and vegitables will be served at the Soup Kitchen...








The open house began and there were docents to lead people first through the Solanus Casey Center...





Congratulations to Judy O'Gorman from Ontario, one of three winners in our raffle. Judy won a Solanus Center duffle bag and coffee table book of the Center, Journey to Holiness.

Then through the back yard and gardens of the Monastery - where Coney Island served Hot Dogs, Chips and Soda...


Then guests could walk over to the Meldrum site of the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, passing some of the Earth Works Urban Gardening sites, and inside having desserts prepared by the staff, and visit tables of the different departments of the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, including On the Rise Bakery...
